Special Episode with George Hotz

Comma is a startup aimed at solving self-driving cars. A lot of the new cars in the market have built-in stock Advanced driver assistance systems. Comma takes this system to the next level with Openpilot. Openpilot is an open-source driver assistance system. Currently, with features like Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Automated Lane Centering (ALC), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), and Lane Departure Warning (LDW), openpilot is one of the most state-of-the-art solutions in the self-driving space. The Comma Three device is designed to live in your car, and purpose built to run openpilot.
In this episode we speak to George Hotz, President of Comma and now an intern at Twitter.

You know when you’re working on a project and you leave behind a small reminder in the code – a code comment – to help others learn from your work? This podcast takes that idea by letting you listen in on two experienced technologists as they describe their building process.

There’s a lot of work required to bring a project from whiteboard to development, and none of us can do it alone.

The host, Burr Sutter, is a Red Hatter and lifelong developer advocate and community organizer. I checked out the deep learning episode of Code Comments, and I really appreciated Burr’s guidance through the conversation. The episode tackles a deep but fascinating topic. It covers use cases, realistic examples, and motivations for the relevant technology. I think their approach allows for easier contextualization of these significant topics in the coding space.

Another Monday morning. Sprint stand-up. Your next task is … drumroll… building an app integration. RIP. Excited to spend the next month getting your hands on developer API keys, fiddling with Oauth, testing SOAP requests, and debugging a poorly documented API? We didn’t think so either.

Now, what if there were an easier way?

Meet Merge: a Unified API for B2B apps. Instead of building lots of integrations to widely varying APIs, you can integrate with a single API and support any integration your customers want. Think of Merge as a universal translator, a Roseta Stone for APIs. Merge returns normalized data across 100s of integrations, all synced continuously, and available in REST API. No SOAP or web scraping required.

Engineering teams at Ramp, TripActions, and Drata use Merge to build dozens of integrations in weeks, speed up time to market, and make their customers happy.

If you’re working on integrations with accounting, CRM, HR, project management, recruiting, ticketing apps, and more, check out Merge today at www.merge.dev/sedaily.

This episode is supported by AWS Insiders. AWS Insiders is an edgy, entertaining podcast about the services and future of cloud computing at AWS. In every episode, hosts Rahul Subramaniam and Hilary Doyle invite a top guest from the world of cloud computing to debate the most contentious topics in the industry —  from the future of serverless to SQL versus noSQL , and from multi-cloud to locking in on a single cloud vendor. We think you should check it out! Search for AWS Insiders in your podcast player. Click on https://link.chtbl.com/awsinsiders?sid=podcast.cloudengineering to get in on the fun.
